Hi I’m Yalenka. I’m the project manager for this blog. I’m studying the primary teaching spectrum of this masters degree and after doing this blog have a whole new approach to teaching and feeling towards a school’s wider community. Happy reading!!
Hello, I’m Jane and am team demographer. This picture was taken at the Hindu Holi Festival (festival of colours) at Sandown Racecourse in Springvale. Yes, I am covered in paint powder, and who would have thought community research could have been so messy and so much fun? I’m undertaking primary teaching at Deakin. This assignment has taught me the significance of researching, understanding and appreciating the unique communities that our students belong to, in order to provide the optimal learning environment for the individual.
Hi, I’m Gita. This is a photo of me and my children at the Holi Festival in Springvale on Easter Monday. I took on the role of technician/media specialist for this project and it was a huge learning curve for me! The Holi Festival was an amazing experience and was my introduction into the diversity of the area. We all had a fantastic time. I am studying the Early Childhood stream of the Masters of Teaching and I love a challenge. This research project certainly challenged me and also gave me an insight into the world of teaching that I never imagined. The one overriding factor in this study were the friendly and welcoming people of Springvale, they were inspiring. I hope you enjoy reading our findings.
Hello, I’m Leah. This is me taking the train to Springvale. I was the team photographer and responsible for the Photo Story. I am studying the primary teaching stream of the Masters of Teaching.
I have thoroughly enjoyed creating this section of the blog and the experiences I shared with the group in Springvale. The food, culture and community of Springvale has inspired me and left me wanted to learn more about each culture within the community! I hope you enjoy reading the blog as much as we have enjoyed learning about such a fantastic area.
